Trades That Pay Well and Don’t Leave You with Student Debt
Deciding what you want to do for your career is a difficult decision. And, as you will realize as you continue to age, the choice of what you do for a career may change as time goes on and you discover new interests, jobs change, and technology advances. That being said, so many careers require multiple degrees for an entry level job. The good news is there are many trades that you can learn that pay just as well as many jobs requiring master’s degrees, without the student debt. Here are three high paying trades you should consider.
Construction Manager
The first tread that pays well and won’t leave you with massive amounts of student debt is working as a construction manager. Construction managers are the head honchos on construction sites and projects, making sure that plans are being followed, progress is being made, and everyone is staying safe. You have to have a relevant bachelor’s degree in the field of construction, as well as some relevant work experience, so it’s not exactly an entry level position. That being said, construction managers can command salaries in the six-figure range quite easily.
Electrician
Another trade that you can learn which pays well and won’t leave you with student debt to worry about is becoming an electrician. Electricians are needed everywhere, so there is a lot of job stability. Of course, you’ll have to take a test to demonstrate your electrical knowledge before getting your license. This requires attending a trade school to learn the trade, which can take a year or two to complete. But going to trade school to become an electrician takes much less time and money than a college degree. Electricians make a very comfortable average of around $60,000 per year.
Plumber
The final trade that pays well and won’t leave you with student debt payments is working as a plumber. Becoming a plumber also requires attending trade school or working as an apprentice before testing and licensing as a plumber. But just like becoming an electrician, this process is much shorter and less costly than pursuing an expensive secondary education. Plumbers make a similar average living as electricians.
Earning a good salary doesn’t always require a college degree. In fact, by avoiding student debt and pursuing a trade, you can end up much better off than peers with college degrees. Consider these three trades that pay well and won’t leave you shackled with student debt.
